Ash, Kip & Luttsy with Susie O’Neill – Nova 106.9 (Radio)

Waking up in the morning is made a lot easier when you have access to this bunch. From Malcolm Turnbull to Nicki Minaj, from swimming to strippers, no subject is off the table when it comes to this bunch.

Major Cast:

Ashley Bradnam

Ash Bradnam is the Australian everyman. Happy to talk footy and to throw out the occasional fishing line in the never-ending quest to catch the perfect Barramundi, Ash is a married father of 3 boys and is someone we can all associate with (we’ve all made questionable parenting decisions and Ash is not only keen to share his, but more often than not quite proud of his parenting mistakes – something we all should look at embracing), I for one am constantly telling my kids that our household is not a democracy, I wasn’t voted into power, that it is a dictatorship and they shall do as I tell them (just sharing one of my questionable parenting decisions).

Ash also battles his own personal demons relating to alcohol. I know a lot of us like to sink a few tinnies of an evening and/or get ourselves into states of inappropriateness during the weekend, but Ash has publicly acknowledged his problem with Alcohol and needing to have vodka constantly on hand to get through his day. It takes a big man to admit, confront and deal with his issues, an even bigger man to speak about it and the biggest man to speak about it in such a public forum.

David Lutteral

David ‘Luttsy’ Lutteral is a former lothario, former sports reporter, occasional comedian, frequent event MC and still current representative of the ranga/blood nut/ginge population on the popular radio station. Luttsy is often associated with such topics as “love and rockets” and “honey bees“, but often overlooked and in some case underrated even though he has a fantastic sense of humour, quite impressive vocabulary and extreme sports knowledge

The ageless Luttsy has some fantastic support, not only in his team mates, but also from his parents (his laundry duties up until very recently still rested with Mrs. Lutteral).

A little bit of Ash & Luttsy’s comedic genius

Kip Wightman

Kip is the button pusher of the morning crew and thank goodness he wears glasses to improve his eyesight, it makes us feel like he does have a flaw, as with his musical ability – he can play the guitar and can sing quite well (Kip probably requires the least producing in the Top 5 segment that is a regular on the show), has a hot young wife, has a fantastic sense of humour, isn’t ugly and can grow facial hair like an absolute champion (I’m admittedly quite jealous of this skill as I have the facial hair growing capacity of a 12 year old mexican…girl). Impersonations and character creation provide an added dimension to his already Bawse abilities.

Susie O’Neill

I bet Madam Butterfly thought that winning 35 Australian titles and with eight Olympics medals would be the hardest thing she could do in the public eye….then she met Ash, Kip & Luttsy. With comments like “Goggly eyes” and “big chompers”, Susie’s lack of polish is refreshing in the typically PC culture of Australian radio, basically Susie says what we are all thinking (I’ve caught myself wishing the boys would ask certain questions when interviewing anyone interesting, only to have the words fall out of Susie’s mouth shortly afterward).

My wife and I like the comments that she makes about parenting and being a wife. Her daughter cooks more than she does, she gets annoyed at Cliff being good at everything, she is mega competitive (the medals are indicative of this, but her competitive streak has extended to “are you smarter than Suze” and in various conversations with her team mates.

Recurring Cast:

Mitchell Lewis

The son of Origin, Bronco and Kangaroos great, Wally “The King” Lewis, Lincoln is the resident nerd of the team. The presenter for the morning show, the Prince is the go-to for all things sport and all things nerdy. Being the less pretty and less talented thespian of the Lewis clan does not stop Mitch from dressing up as various Marvel or DC characters – this sees Mitch, being trusted by the team to review all of the latest superhero movies.

Ange Anderson

I’ve never listened to a radio station before that involved the newsreader/traffic reader as much as this team. They include Ange in so many things that they do and it is fantastic. We’ve learnt so much about Ange and see her as a valuable part of the team. It would be great to have her involved more though.

Katie Mattin

Katie Mattin came to my attention as basically the next radio presenter after the morning team. The team would throw grief her way, in a light-hearted and fun way, and she would throw it back.

The wife of KJ, Katie has twin daughters (the stories she shares about her twins are quite hilarious and relatable – I’ve often thought about using my kids as magpie bate to distract them so I don’t get attacked, but Katie took it to the next level)

Shock Jock

A scotsman living in Queensland with great opinions, a great way with words and not so great phone reception. He has been with the boys since day one and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Antonio

If she has boobs, you can guarantee that Antonio is going to hit on her and try to sexualise and seduce her, all while insulting Kip as much as possible. There seems to be some extremely bad blood between these two, but maybe Antonio is just jealous of Kip’s luck with marrying Amber?

Tune in and listen to them all today.
